Puredisk dancing
We need to switch our backup SAN from Pillar (SAN01) to EMC (SAN02). I was wondering if we could de-assign a LUN from a SAN (just said SAN01) on media server (just said media01). And then assign a new LUN from another SAN (just said SAN02) on the media server media01. We do not remove the images of media01 from the old LUN from SAN01 on the master server. Then we use the new LUN on the SAN02 for a week. Then we need to restore something from the old LUN on SAN01. Can we unassigned the LUN from SAN02 and re-assign the LUN from SAN01 on media01 and be able to restore it ? thanks877Views1like4CommentsMSDP Always busy
I am trying to do some upgrades to the firmware and drivers on a server containing a MSDP. Being new to NetBackup I recently took a different pool down, most likely related to shuting the server down while the pool was still processing. After going through that once I would rather be safe than sorry. I was given the command crcontrol --processqueueinfo however even hours after all of my SLP's that dup to this pool have been disabled it is still busy. Is there a way to manually (and safely) freeze and commit all changes so that I can bring the pool down?Solved1.5KViews0likes3CommentsProblems with restoring System State on Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 with PureDisk
We`re having problems with restoring System State and Services on Windows Storage Server 2008 R2 on HP X3400 with newest version of PureDisk ( 6.6.1.2). After 45h job was still running. On the other hand files and folders are restoring normally around 20 minutes. Also backup jobs of System State take long time to finish ( 10h without SP1 and 5h with it ). We`re not having such problems on other machines ( for example virtual ones ).680Views0likes2CommentsPureDisk deduplication failure

I have 23 remote file servers backing up to a Puredisk server here on site. I am in the process of upgrading my NBU 6.5.5 to NBU 7.0. Does anyone have any experience with NBU 7.0 dedupe? Or better yet, does anyone have any experience with Puredisk AND NBU 7 dedupe? I am adding more and more remote servers to my backups and I'm wondering if I need to quit pushing Puredisk to those remote servers if I can use NBU 7.0 to accomplish the same task? I would think NBU 7 would be the cheaper route. Does anyone have any real world experience with this? Any advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated and even though it won't be rewarded, it will be graded. Thanks Randy574Views0likes2CommentsNBU7 Deduplication & Lotus Notes Agent
Anybody else checked out the perforamnce of Lotus Notes agent backups using a NBU7 Deduplicating Media Server? What sort of Dedup rates are you getting with mail databases? What I have seen on HP rebadgedSepatons hasn't been that impressive for mail databse servers. Lotus Notes database that contian non-mail files dedup well. Its only the personal mail files thatseen to be a problem.985Views0likes5CommentsPuredisk 6.6.1 Exchange Backups taking very long time
Hi I was wondering if anyone else was having issues in regards to this? All the SPA's I have upgraded to 6.6.1 , The Exchange backups have started to increase in time quite dramatically. Our Enviroment is MS Exchange 2007 with SP3 As an example. A server that used to take 6 Hours to backup went to 10 hours then 17, then 22, then 30, then 77 and the current backup is still running. This server is on LAN to the SPA aswell. Its the GRT Phase thats taking all the time, The Store of the logs and mailbox is still taking the normal amount of time. The backups usually complete but the GRT part fails. I was wondering if anyone else has had similar issue and if so logged a case? If not I will log a case next week. I have a few other open cases right now so looking to get some resolution on those before I create another case. Thanks in advance SimonSolved526Views0likes1CommentNetbackup Puredisk for Remote offices
Hi, We are considering Netbackup Puredisk for our environment - we have 10 remote offices, out of which 5 have central file servers and the remaining 5 are desktop and laptop users without any central sotrage locations. One additional office (central) will host the central media server and houses a file server too. All these 10 office communicate to the central location through internet (VPN) Full data backup range from 200gb to 1tb Wanted to know if Puredisk is viable for our environment, as we have 5 locations which do not have a central storage location. thank you for your help..565Views0likes1CommentPuredisk 7.0 Orphaned backups cannot be removed
Hi forum, I'm running NBU 7.0 on Windows 2003 and Puredisk on my mediaserver. Until a few days ago I have been running my backups to puredisk but suddenly there was not enough storage left. I decided to clean out by duplication backups to tape media making the duplicate the new primary image. After that, Iexpired the backups on my PDDE-storage. However, I still have the problem. The expirered images cannot be found in the catalog search and the primary images on tape are still copy #2. My 5TB PDDE-storage is cludged up with orphaned data that I cannot remove from that admin interface. Is it somehow possibleto clean up my PDDE-storage (without removing puredisk) ? Kind regards, Flemming PS. Running out of tapes now467Views0likes2Comments
