Is there an agent removal tool?
I had v10 or so installed and upgraded to v21. Existing agents on W10 machines will not uninstall. I followedhttps://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100005184 but still the new version still fails to install b/c there is an existing agent. Is there an agent removal tool or more complete instruction?1.2KViews0likes2CommentsAuto Generated Document Backup Get .PST
Hello! Backup Exec user here. Loooooooong time user from back in the Ghost days! :)) I'm using it pretty outdated version, 16! However, the software is so solidly made I still haven't gone ahead and got a new one. Mostly that's just as I'm trying to save money. And, really, it's just so reliable. It does everything you need. That's a testimony to how well made it is. I've just started doing a document backup using the pre-programmed settings. Here to four I'd always just done a full backup, only because I thought that was easier? But now, to try to economize even further On service base, i've decided to go with the pre-programmed setting where it allows us to back up the whole computer twice a week, and the documents every day. There was one setting in that pre-programmed documents menu that confused me a bit. It's about email files. Please take a look at this image: Among the choices it shows for email files are .dbx, .eml, .msg, .nws, .ost... After that OST there's just an ellipsis. That ellipsis is making me a little scared! You see, I still have a lot of very important email files that are .PST And, I believe that even my outlook is still using .PST? So, put another way, if the checkbox for email files does not include .PST .Files, that won't be much help for me. Please can anyone confirm with a bit of documentation? Sorry about the age of the software, but I'm just an academic and I'm trying to save every penny I can. :D Veritas 16. Sincerely, Cal485Views0likes0CommentsRemove VM from old version
Hi Guys; I would like to know, how I can proceed to remove the Virtual Machine from the old Backup exec version. We don’t need more backups from this VM, and then we decided to remove it, but we are not sure if the procedure attached is correct. Could help to clarify the issue? Thank you in advance for your collaboration Regards RC555Views0likes0CommentsAccess denied on WindowsApps folder backup
Hello, we have one physical Windows 10 machine where we have several access denied issues on backup. Especially on some files in the folder C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\. Most files and folders can be backed up, but some can't. Error message (for example): Tuesday, September 12, 2023 11:01:17 PM - Access denied to file Program Files\WindowsApps\AppUp.IntelGraphicsExperience_1.100.5180.0_x64__8j3eq9eme6ctt\AppxBlockMap.xml. The item \\xxxxxxxxxx\C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\AppUp.IntelGraphicsExperience_1.100.5180.0_x64__8j3eq9eme6ctt\AppxBlockMap.xml in use - skipped. Tuesday, September 12, 2023 11:01:17 PM - V-79-57344-33928 - Access is denied. Excluding the folder is no option, as this will switch off the recovery via SDR. We've tried already many backup options regarding Snapshot and "Files and Folders", but without success. Does anyone have an idea what we can do?1.2KViews0likes0CommentsBackup Exec 22 SDR 32bit
We're using Backup Exec 22 and backing up 32 and 64bit Windows 10 computers. When creating the SDR ISO the information of the 32bit machines are not listed - althought the OS version is listed in the SCL (and DR files listed in the SDR\Data\ folder). The documentation says that in BE 22 there's only the 64bit SDR left, but it should be possible to use it to recover 32bit OS too (different to older BE versions). Has anyone an idea how we can recover computers with 32bit Windows10? Have we overseen a setting, or is this a software bug?734Views0likes4CommentsBackup Exec cannot inventory on first try, only able to work on 2nd try each time
Hello everyone, Currently we are facing an issue with Backup Exec 22 with lto9 media. Should we try to inventory the tape, it will fail eventually, then it can run on 2nd try. We can backup with said tape but every time we try to inventory, same thing happens. We don't believe the issue is related toBackup Exec and Support for LTO9 tapemedia,as we were able to back up with the tape which mean we had initialized it.1.1KViews0likes6CommentsExcluding OneDrive folders from Backup Exec while maintaining SDR
We have approximately 20 workstations that get backed up in our organization with Backup Exec 20.6. We are also an Office 365 shop.. Up until now, none of our users have ever signed in to their Office 365 OneDrive app on any of those 20 workstations -- until yesterday. Our backups are set as Full backups, and SDR is enabled. Yesterday, when one of the backups attempted to run, it failed with an "Access Denied" error when it encountered that user's OneDrive folder under C;\Users\username\OneDrive_For_Business_Folder. The "Access Denied" was not due to the Backup logon account having sufficient permissions - it can browse that folder without issue. My guess is it fails due to it being a reparse point, and by default, OneDrive is using the "File On-Demand" setting where OneDrive files are only downloaded from the cloud once the user accesses them. At any rate -- adding a selection exclude for the OneDrive folder causes SDR to go off.. But I did discover that if I instead added a "Backup Level Exclusion" using the pathUsers\*\OneDrive* that it keeps the SDR indicator lit and does not try to backup OneDrive folders. So the question is -- what is the difference between a "Backup Level Exclusion" and an exclusion from the file selection? I would love to add this as a global exclude as well -- we have no reason (or desire) at all to backup user's OneDrive folder content -- but the note on global excludes say that those are ignored for SDR backups. Just wondering if someone could explain the difference between these 3 exclude methods, and why some of them work for keeping SDR jobs intact and others do not.
