First time upgrading - checking my steps
Hi All Looking to do my first EV upgrade, normally this has been actioned by another colleague who has since retired. Currently we're on EV 12.1.2 and looking to go to 12.5.3. Our environment is: 4x Win2012 servers (2 x storage/task servers and 2 x indexing servers), SQL 2012 server, Storage is handled by CIF shares. We're currently running onprem Exchange 2016 servers. We don't use EV reporting, discovery or any smtp/journal archiving Pre-change: Confirm backups of application servers and SQL Confirm AV off Confirm disk space Run deployment scanner check Get new clients packaged ready to deploy Change Day: Stop all EV services and set to manual Check all MSMQ are empty Copy and backup EV folder forwebapp.ini and web.config files Upgrade all 4 servers but DO NOT reboot until all are done Run cmdlet Start-EVDatabaseUpgrade to upgrade SQL db 12.5.3 install on all 4 servers a) have I got the above steps correct? b) my previous colleague would also put the Vault Stores in Backup mode, is this necessary since I'm stopping the EV services and changing them to Manual startup for the duration? c) he also noted something aboutCheck Statistics have been dropped on Vault SQL Databases, what is this? d) Do I need to upgrade OWA extensions on each Exchange server as well? e) the client app deployment is handled by another team, does it matter if the server is 12.5.3 but the client is 12.1.2 for a short duration? f) any other step I'm missing? Thanks in advance.2.3KViews0likes9Commentsspace needed to perform index upgrade
Hi All, I am in the process of upgrading 32 bit index for a customer. I would like to know if the size of the converted index (64 bit) will be same as the original 32 bit index. This is to get an idea of the amount of free space needed at the open index locations. Environment details: EV 11 Index Server Groups present Thanks & Regards, VJSolved1.3KViews0likes3Commentsindex upgrade from 32bit to 64bit
Hi All, I have a customer running EV 11 and currently in the process of planning upgrade to EV 12. There are still some 32bit indexes that are yet to complete conversion to 64bit due to large number of 32bit indexes. Can the index upgrade (32 to 64) be resumed after performing the upgrade to EV 12? Is it mandatory to upgrade 32bit index to 64 prior to upgrade to EV 12? Thanks! Hi, I need to migrate a Enterprise Vault 11 server running on a Windows 2008 R2 server to a Windows 2012 R2 server. Actually we are doing only Exchnage Journal Archiving. What is the best procedure to afford this ??? Actually we don't have Symantec Backup solutions, but i suppose that it could be done with different backup solutions. Hi all I've got just a couple of EV installs so I attend to this not too often. But now I need to upgrade one of the installations to version 12. But is there anyway to download version 12 - we have maintenance. Or do I have to request media from sales/support?550Views0likes1CommentEnterprise Vault 12.2.1 released.
All, EV 12.2.1 has been released and can be found here -https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.000127352 This has many fixes including one for File Server Archiving where file server shares would become inaccessible for a period of time during large file recalls. This was due to an SMB thread issue that has been resolved. Regards, Patrick2.1KViews2likes5Commentsev 11.0.1CHF4 event 13410 - Value violated the integrity constraints for a column or table

Dear Experts, I need your suggestion regarding the migration process for EV 10.0.4 to EV 12.1.3 which is running on VCS 6.0 Current setup: 6 Node VCS cluster running in single cluster and in which two nodes hosting EV mailbox archiving, two nodes Journal Archive and two nodes FSA archiving. Also we have single DA Server We are planning to migrate to 12.1.3 and we have planned as below. You suggestions will be highly appreicated. Step 1: Migrate EV Databas, the MS SQL 2008 to MS SQL 2012 (failover cluster) as well DA Database Step 2: Upgrade existing DA 10.0.4 Server to 11.0.1 and then Upgrade all EV Servers to 11.0.1 Step 3: Setup new 6 nodes VCS 7.2 cluster. Two node each for MBX archiving, Journal Archive and FSA Archive Step 4: Install EV 12.0 on all cluster Nodes (no configuration) & Configure disk Group for MSMQ & RegReplication Step 5: Export Configuration from Old EV Servers (Need a clarification here. Whether we need to Export Configuration for each MBX, Jounral and FAS archive cluster or exporting for all nodes at a time should suffice. MBX cluster resource group has its own disk and other resources, so does the Journal Archive cluster and FSA archiving) Step 5: Install DA nodes 12.0 standalone & upgrade the configurations Step 6: deport disks and import disks in new cluster nodes Step 7: Configure VCS EV resource configuration Wizard Step 8: Configure EV VCS Configuration Wizard Step 9: Import EV Configuration (Again the same question. Do we need to import configuration for each cluster separately or we can do it in one go) Step 10: Bring the cluster services up for EV and test archive, retreive and search. Thanks in advance for your suggestions. Rgds, Rane899Views0likes0CommentsVault Can't Connect to Directory
I ran through a test migration/upgrade from 9.0.4 to 10.0.2 in my lab today. Everything seemed to work OK, and all checks and steps passed. However, now that I'm on my new 10 server, I can't open the admin console, and am getting this event repeatedly logged: Event ID 8623 Cannot connect to the Enterprise Vault Directory service. Check the Enterprise Vault event log on OLDSERVERNAME.domain.com to find the cause of the problem. I am using an alias, so nothing should be pointing to this name. My alias DNS entry has been updated, and is pointing to the new server. Up until about 2 weeks ago, my lab was not using an alias, so I ran through this KB to change it: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?pag.... Any ideas before I open a support case? Thanks!Solved1.9KViews1like2Comments
