Is there a way to backup the OS through NetBackup?
I am curious if it is possible to back up the OS using only netbackup software without using bmr or vsr. There are system state and shadow copy components in the backup selection, and I am wondering if it is possible to backup and restore the server OS through these. If you know any ideas or technote addresses, please let me know.21Views0likes2CommentsSame Media server, new storage
I have a relatively new and unused Media Server VM connected successfully to our master. For a datastore I was initially using a (local to the VM) virtual disk. The next day I noticed that all of my backups had failed, because the virtual disk for the backups had fatal problems and was keeping the VM from booting. I removed the disk, confirmed that the Media server could connect and added new local storage, but backup failures make me believe that the new storage (slightly smaller and mounted using the same mount point) is not successfully configured. The Java console confirms that the media server is in successful contact with the master. Can someone please describe the process I should be using to inform the master that the old storage on the media server is defunct and that new storage is available? This is the log for the backup I attempted; Aug 02, 2023 11:27:07 AM - Info bpdbm (pid=4272) image catalog cleanup Aug 02, 2023 11:27:07 AM - Info bpdbm (pid=4272) deleting images which expire before Wed Aug 2 11:27:07 2023 (1690990027) Aug 02, 2023 11:27:08 AM - Info nbdelete (pid=5492) deleting expired images. Hello, We have an old physical server that is running CentOS 7, and we need to install Netbackup agent to it to secure our data, We have our master server in Windows Server 2012 R2, so we try to install Netbackup agent 8.0 to our client. the setup was successful. The first thing that we tried to do, is retrieving master server CA Certificate with the command, nbcertcmd getCertificate, but we receive the following error: [root@siege-gea-nas bin]# ./nbcertcmd -getCertificate -server siege-adm-003.domain.local Request to get the certificate deployment level failed. EXIT STATUS 8500: Connection with the web service was not established. we tested network connectivity, and name resolutions and they work correctly. we even made sure that there's no firewall, weither in the master, media servers, or in the centos client. Could you please, tell us what we can do to install the client successfully?1.5KViews0likes5CommentsOracle instance

I've created a new user account in the master server to be used for logging into both the Java application and the new web UI. It worked in the java, but needs RBAC configuration in the web. Can someone guide me through RBAC configuration for this user account? The OS and NetBackup versions are Oracle Linux 8.9 and 10.3.0.1 respectively.Solved234Views0likes3CommentsSAN Client: Support for different kernel versions on Linux Fibre Transport Media servers
Hi all, I am currently going through the Veritas procedure to configuring SAN client and Fibre Transport mode. I need to start nbhba mode on Linux and use the command: /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/admincmd/nbftsrv_config -nbhba When I use this command, I get the error: "kernel is unknown or not supported, exiting." From this article, I saw that there were other supported kernel versions:https://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/article.100021571 The problem is that there doesn't seem to be any support for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 kernels, which is the kernel that my RHEL 8 backup host is using: I tried to create a symbolic link for the "closest version" kernel, but it says in the guide: "It should be noted that the first three dot separated numbers, such as 2.6.9 or 2.6.16, must match. ", so this will not work. Does anyone have a workaround for this issue?Solved1.1KViews0likes3Comments
