Error Message E00084CA The data being read from the media is inconsistent
Hello, I have a strage occurence at a customers site. When I install the remote agent on 2 servers and start a backup I immediatly get the E00084CA Error. When I disable the agent and do a network share backup all is ok. It is not the tape nor the tape unit.. Local backups are OK, only remote backups with the agent on these 2 servers are not ok. we have tried another server with the agent and it went OK too... What can be the problem, If I do a test run all seems ok. Hi All, just want to share the problem i have with BE 2012. It is a clean fresh installation on clean newly installed Win2008 R2 SP1 (all pre-checks passed fine). After remote push of 2 agents and creation oddedupe folder, the console reports error in lower left corner of the screen saying : "The query for ResourceContainer failed". The result is that nothing is visible inside GUI anyomore (groups, agents, jobs...). Debugging shows : MANAGEME: [03.27.12 15:00:28] [0000] ERROR: Reason: DataAccess DataAccessBEServer QueryResourceContainer: caught an exception:Invalid column name 'finaljobstatus'.. MANAGEME: [03.27.12 15:00:28] [0000] ERROR: Stack: at BackupExec.Management.Components.DataAccess.DataAccessBEServer.QueryResourceContainer(ItemCriteria& queryInfo) I have tried reinstall, removal of installation, deletition of profile, registry keys, deletition of all associated folders and tried a clean install, also i have trye dusing another SQL server as opposed to using SQL express, but always the same error appears (will have to rebuild the server form scratch it seems). Any ideas? Ayone seen this before? Thanks. All the best, KresimirSolved5.8KViews1like13CommentsBackup Exec 2010 Serial Key?
Hey Guys, im trying to find out what my serial number is on my server so i can upgrade to latest version of backup exec. I can find the license keys etc in backup exec but not the serial number. Anyone know where i can find this? Thanks in advanceSolved3.8KViews1like5CommentsWhat happens if you need to change a tape drive ?
Backups have worked fine for years with version 10 but recently jobs have been consistently failing - the standard failure message implying either poor media/hardware etc. I replaced first with new media but came to the conclusion the drive itself needed replacing. It had been an HP C1537A DDS3. Thinking it would make life easier I obtained a similar C1537A (but it was a badged Compaq model). Despite the difference in badge, they are the same drives and so I was surprised that when I tried a test backup it failed with the message: "The job failed with the following error: Physical Volume Library Drive not found" Please could someone point me to what steps I must follow to install this replacement drive with Backup Exec ? And what happens to all the past backups if they are linked to the old drive ? Thanks for your help Guys.Solved5.1KViews1like4Commentsis backup over WAN worth considering?
Provided my calculation of data transfer shows that it's "doable" within 3 hours everyday. I was considering this before I was presented with Symantec BE14. Now my partner is talking about 2 BE servers with dedupe on each side and other license options that would be required, not to mention hardware, etc. It's way over original budget and I'm not sure BE is really built for this. I mean, it's one thing if I raise the budget and the solution works, but quite another if it turns out to be an expensive pile of doodoo..1.4KViews0likes3CommentsBackup Exec 2015 - Agent For Windows???
Hello all - I am currently upgrading my servers (FROM:Windows 2008 R2 withBackup Exec 2010 R3,TO:Server 2012 R2 with Backup Exec 2015). I do not recall everneeding a separate - 'Agent for Windows' when I purchased my licenses Backup Exec 2010 R3. *Therefore my question is, will I now be missing functionality that I had before with 2010 R3?* Thanks in advance! :)4.5KViews0likes19CommentsBackup Exec 2010 to 2014 migration failed

Hello, I am currently running Backup Exec 2014 on a Server 2003 machine that also servers as our secondary domain controller. We backup to disk first then copy to tape. We are migrating to new servers running 2012r2. Can BE 2014 be installedon a virtual server? I thought this would be a good way to separate the secondary DC role from Backup Exec. ThanksSolved3.1KViews0likes5CommentsBackup Exec media server in a VMware virtual machine itself
Hi! I have read a lot about backing up virtual machines with Backup Exec and AVVI. But I am curious about a possibility to run Backup exec media server itself in a VMware virtual machine. Is it supported. In Software compatibility list it is written that it has to be run in Windows enviroment. But it is not clarified there, whether this environment should be virtual or real. Do you have any real experience of running BE itself in virtual machine? Is it supported? Regards!2.8KViews1like11Commentswhen i login to symantec BE 2014 it will through error message
