Office365 vs Enterprise vault
Hello all, My enterprise is looking at Office 365 as an alternative to the Vault software. I am looking to hear about others experiences regarding this usage. Has any of you moved to office 365 from EV and if so ,what has the experience been like. Just looking for the pros vs cons and any docs regarding why this is a good or bad idea.Solved1.1KViews0likes4CommentsEV Dashboard ASP site available for download.

Hello, Has anyone ever configured an EV Domino Gateway on a server that is already running Enterprise Vault? To clarify the situation: I have existing EV solution for FSA and Exchange mailbox/journal archiving I now want to add Domino mailbox and journal archiving to the existing EV environment I want to configure one of the existing EV servers as the EV Domino Gateway The Symantec documentation states the following: "On the computer that will host the Enterprise Vault Domino Gateway, do the following: Install Domino server binaries and configure the Domino server Install Lotus Notes client binaries and hotfix, and configure the client. Use the ID file that you want to use for Domino archiving. After you have completed these tasks, you can install Enterprise Vault and perform the initial configuration." I would like to avoid adding an additional server just for the EVDG or performing a re-install of one of the existing EV servers. The plan! Is it possible to do the following without breaking the existing EV server: Install the Domino server and client binaries as per the pre-requisites on the existing EV server Run the EV binaries again and add the EVDG components Configure Domino mailbox and journal archiving as per normal Thanks in advance.Solved2.5KViews5likes10CommentsUnable to open shortcuts when moved/copied to shared mailbox or public folder
Ineed a solution to prevent users to move or copy EV shortcuts to shared mailboxes or public folders. Since the Enterprise Vault archive task updates only moved/copied items within the own archive, we see often permission problems, when users try to open shortcuts in shared mailboxes. The cause of this is always the same: moved or copied shortcuts from an users mailbox. It is not easy to identify whether the shortcuts are ok, or not, or to which archive they belong, and Enterprise Vault does not handle the “bad” shortcuts as orphaned ones. Several technotes says: you have to train the users to prevent this situation. But since it is a very common way to share information by moving or copying mail items between mailboxes, the users are doing this as well with shortcuts. Why is Enterprise Vaultnot able to handle this correctly? So we need at least a solution, which allows users to move or copy shortcuts withintheir own mailboxes, but not to shared mailboxes or public folders. How can we achive this? We are using V9.0.2 and Outlook 2010 and plan to upgrade to V11; does V11 still have the same behavior?Solved1.7KViews0likes5CommentsDedicated Index server for EV 10
Audience hi I know how to move all INDEX data and change SQL entries for EV organization to point to new INDEX server. My question is, which roles, components must (are necessary) I install when I do a new installation. Shall I prepare a new EV server as for usual (including Outlook and MAPI profile) and just not configure archiving tasks? Thanks' for answers...1.8KViews0likes8Commentsmonitoring web app on x64 w2008
I've installed the webmonitoring on a w2008x64 ev-server, having only admin and directory service. When locally opening the page (localhost/monitoringwebapp/default.aspx), it shows an error with 'guidelines': An error has occurred. An error has occurred. Health monitoring is enabled. The error details have been updated in log.txt. Please contact the administrator or technical support with this file. This list may help you in troubleshooting the issue. Verify that AppPool Identity User is added to IIS_WPG group on the IIS server. Verify that AppPool Identity User has Read access to HKLM\KVS\Enterprise Vault registry key. You can enable Health Monitoring on this application by following these steps - Take a backup of current web.config file. Change the tag <healthMonitoring heartbeatInterval="0" enabled="false"> to <healthMonitoring heartbeatInterval="0" enabled="true">. The Health Monitoring log will be generated in log.txt. There is no logfile. I've verified the above mentioned points, and all is well. Does anyone have an idea, or do I need an EV-server having ALL services running.... thx. Uninstall Enterprise Vault add-in from user’s PC The Virtual Vault is always there… Please help!Solved3.5KViews0likes9CommentsEdit archived items in Outlook - Possible bug?
I may have found a possible bug in the Enterprise Vault Outlook add-in. When I open a shortcut and it displays the original Item. I click on "Action" and "Edit Messsage" - Add some lines to the email, click on save and try to close the email I get a popup with the following information: This item is archived and cannot be edited. To save your changesyou must make a copy of the item. Click 'Yes' if you with to save a copy in the inbox folder, or click 'No' to select a different folder. (same happens when I do not save the edit message and instead try to close it) When clicking 'Yes' - It saves the edited email in this folder - Thats correct When clicking 'No' - A new popup appears where I have to select a folder - When I decide not to store the edited email and click 'cancel' it stores the edited item in the folder where I opened the shortcut - Thats incorrect and should not be the case. Verified this with Outlook 2007 and Outlook Add-In 11.0.1 CHF4 as well as with Outlook 2013. Attached two screenshots of the popus I get. Can someone else verfiy this? Didn't find any other information. Is this a known problem or may it be a problem with Outlook? MarcSolved1.7KViews0likes6Comments
