NetBackup 7.5.0.6 (NetBackup 7.5 Maintenance Release 6) is now available!
(This is a crosspost from the Netting Out NetBackup blog) I'm very pleased to announce that the next Maintenance Release for NetBackup 7.5 is now available! NetBackup 7.5.0.6 is the sixth maintenance release for NetBackup 7.5. It is a cumulative release containing fixes and content from 7.5.0.1 through 7.5.0.5. In addition, this release contains almost 600 additional fixes (bringing the total fixes in 7.5.0.6 to over 1700!) including the most commonly downloaded EEBs, several customer escalations, and internal engineering defects. NetBackup 7.5.0.6 includes the following proliferations and enhancements: YES, Windows Server 2012/8 is now supported! db2 10.1 (snapshot support; streaming support was added in 7.5.0.5) Exchange 2013 Hyper-V 2012 SharePoint 2013 SAP HANA client support - see this blog post for more information To download 7.5.0.5, please visit the following page: NetBackup 7.5.0.6 Download Links http://symantec.com/docs/TECH204644 (link is fixed - sorry about that!) This is a MAINTENANCE Release for NetBackup (as opposed to a Release Update) - it can ONLY be applied on top of NetBackup 7.5. (If you are currently running 7.0, 7.0.1, 7.1, or 7.1.0.x, you will need to upgrade to 7.5 before you can apply 7.5.0.6.) Please note that maintenance releases are CUMULATIVE - that means that 7.5.0.6 contains all product fixes included in 7.5.0.1, 7.5.0.2, 7.5.0.3, 7.5.0.4 AND 7.5.0.5. If you are currently running NetBackup 7.5, you may apply the 7.5.0.6 maintenanace release without installing 7.5.0.1, 7.5.0.3, 7.5.0.4 or 7.5.0.5. In fact, if you are still running NetBackup 7.5, we would HIGHLY encourage applying 7.5.0.6! Published Technical Collateral Survey Results
Want to know what your peers in the information management industry are thinking about, how they use published Veritas technical collateral, and what they find the most valuable? We did too. So, we asked several industry professionals for feedback, and here is what they said. Thank you to everyone who participated in our CPEP survey! Understanding customer experience The importance of understanding the various experiences of Veritas customers spurred the NetBackup Technical Marketing Engineering Team (TME) to launch a survey asking customers and partners about their use of technical collateral (e.g., technical briefs, white papers, videos, etc.). Here’s an overview of the feedback we received: Top 3 types of preferred collateral: Technical brief User guide White paper/video Top 3 go-to places to find collateral: Google Veritas.com Veritas SORT (Services and Operations Readiness Tool) Top 3 collateral topics of most interest: How to guides Feature overviews Installation/upgrade support Top 3 core themes of most interest: On prem workload protection Cyber resiliency/security/ransomware Cloud Top 3 represented industries in the responses: Telecommunications, Technology, Internet & Electronics Finance & Financial Services Healthcare & Pharmaceuticals GEO distribution of the respondents: 45% AMS (Americas region) 36% EMEA (Europe, Middle East, and Africa region) 19% APJ (Asia Pacific Japan region) The majority indicated their preferred type of collateral (e.g., white paper, video) depends on the context (e.g., deep dive, general overview, troubleshooting, etc.). The majority agree that collateral has helped in decision-making processes for purchasing Veritas products. We also conducted follow up interviews with some of the survey respondents who stated that they go to Google first, then the Veritas support portal, and SORT and VOX for specific uses (e.g., compatibility checks and seeing what others are talking about and interested in). Participants stated that they saw great value in CPEP and utilize documentation mostly to review in-depth information on specific features, or occasionally videos for general overviews (e.g., on the Veritas V-Bytes YouTube playlist). What does this mean for you? Do these preferences align with yours? Veritas is focused on adapting to your requirements with a powerful and continually evolving suite of solutions. Start a conversation with our product teams. Hyper-converged solutions such as the Veritas Access Appliance fit perfectly in the healthcare and public sector space, and new features (e.g., deduplication) in NetBackup 10.X take the company’s 30+ years of experience in data protection and puts it into a brand-new playing field. Hi, I configured Blat to enable email notification on Netbackup, it is working fine however if I specify a username and password in the registry, I am getting the following errors: *** Warning *** The SMTP server did not accept Auth PLAIN value. *** Warning *** Are your login userid and password correct? *** Warning *** The SMTP server did not accept Auth LOGIN PASSWD value. Any idea ?Solved15KViews0likes7CommentsAnyone know what a KeyStore Password file is?
If I want to install my own "3rd Party" certificate for the Web Management Console (aka "the Modern UI"), the documentation athttps://www.veritas.com/support/en_US/doc/21733320-132525226-0/v133148073-132525226 says I need to generate a Java Keystore file and a "keystore password file". The Java Keystore isn't a big deal, Oracle's documentation on how to create a keystore, give it a password, and store a certificate in it is good enough. But I can't find anything that leads me to believe that a "keystore password file" is than the figment of the imaginations of several people at Veritas. Who else has installed a third party certificate for the 8.1.2 modern web UI? And how did you create the keystore password file?4.2KViews0likes9CommentsList of NetBackup Blueprints...

I'm a NB newb, and I've been looking all over Google, NBdoc, forums etc. looking for an explanation of the fields in the bplist output, but am not finding anything. I even found an explanation for bpflist, which is an undocumented command, but nothing for bplist. Any suggestions? TIA2.9KViews0likes13Comments- 4.4KViews1like5Comments
