VSS timeout issues, restart not suitable solution
Hello I have had continual issues with vss writers time outs on one of our machines we are backing up. Running Windows Server 2008R2 SP1, using BE2010 R3 SP1 The vss writers continue to cause the backup to fail due to timeout. They restart fixes the error status on the writers, but they will time out almost each and every time i run the job. The tech's say i have the job setup correctly, with aofo selected, ms volume shadow copy service(windows 2003 and later) selected and System-use microsoft software shadow copy provider selected. And backup files following junction points. I have selected "Process logical volumes for backup one at a time" too see if this helps. Any suggestions on fixes, besides contanct MS? We don't have support with MS, and as we are suggested to use their system writers by symantec, i would hope that Symantec would provide better aid in fixing VSS issues. Thanks for the help vssadmin 1.1 - Volume Shadow Copy Service administrative command-line tool (C) Copyright 2001-2005 Microsoft Corp. I have a backup job that's failing with this error. Final error: 0xe000035b - The consistency check of the snapshot for the Microsoft Active Directory, ADAM or AD LDS transaction log has failed. You should check for possible data corruption in the transaction log that is online. Final error category: Resource Errors For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-57344-859 I checked this page http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH87307&actp=search&viewlocale=en_US&searchid=1356620338195and it said to run a database check against AD, Adam or LDS. Adam and LDS do not apply to my situation since I'm not using them. I ran a database check against NTDS and it did not find any issues so I do not know why this error keeps popping up. Any suggestions would be appreciated.Solved9.1KViews1like3CommentsHow to set overwrite backup to preventing full disk space?

hi im having issue with adding nas storage to backup exec 10d. im using iomega device. so when setting it up, i gave it a static ip address. then in symantec backup exec, i set it up and add the new backup to disk folder and i point to the name of the Nas box, for example.... \\online_bk\NASBK\Backup-to-Disk Folder 1 . i then run a backup and all is fine, then after a few hours, the backup to disks folder goes offline, and cant be brought back on line. you can still ping the nas device by the ip address, and access all thefolders, but not by the hostname. and when that happens, you cant point backup exec to the folder destination via the ip address. this is running on server 2003. so im just wondering what going wrong, have i missed a step or something??
