Query regarding stopping of vcs
Hi Team, Could you please suggest on this, To stop the vcs and leaves the application running we use, hastop -all -force and then start the vcs with hastart. But, under which condition do we have to use this command "hastop -all -force." when this operation will require to keep the application running and do VCS stop and start. When this is required to use" hastop -local " OR hastop -all to stop the VCS and application. Please explain. With the introduction of the Veritas InfoScale 7.0 product family, Dynamic Multi-Pathing (DMP) for VMware is now included as a component in the Veritas InfoScale Foundation, Storage, and Enterprise products. The license for this component is included as a part of the InfoScale license on both Linux and Windows. You can either use the Linux license or the Windows license to enable DMP functionality on the ESXi hypervisor. The DMP for VMware component consists of the following: vSphere offline DMP bundle — DMP components installed on the ESXi hypervisor vSphere UI plug-in — Installed on a Windows physical machine or on a virtual machine and serves as an interface between ESXi and vCenter Remote CLI package — Optional command-line interface to manage ESXi hosts from a Linux system or a Windows system The components can be installed using the command line or the VMware vSphere Update Manager. To install the Dynamic Multi-Pathing for VMware component on ESXi hosts, use one of the following: Veritas_InfoScale_Dynamic_Multi-Pathing_7.0_VMware.zip Veritas_InfoScale_Dynamic_Multi-Pathing_7.0_VMware.iso For more information on installing the DMP for VMware component, refer to the Dynamic Multi-Pathing 7.0 Installation Guide - VMware ESXi. From this release onwards: 1) DMP for VMware supports SanDisk (FusionIO) PCIe attached SSD cards. 2)TheDMP plug-in for the VMware vCenter web client: Displays I/O rate as a line graph. Displays the mapping of LUNs and VMDKs used by a virtual machine. Has a SmartPool tab for a virtual machine for easy configuration of SmartPool assigned to it. No longer requires ESXi login credentials in the Manage Device Support page. For more information about the features and enhancements, refer to the Dynamic Multi-Pathing 7.0 Administrator's Guide - VMware ESXi.756Views2likes1CommentHow to disable email alerts from data domain

In the VMware environment, you can administer the Symantec Dynamic Multi-Pathing (DMP) solution through the Command Line Interface (CLI), the Web Client, and the vSphere Client interfaces. Each interface provides a unique experience in managing storage arrays, host bus adapters (HBAs), logical unit numbers (LUNs), array ports, and paths. You can use the interfaces based on your requirements: CLI: The VxDMP remote CLI uses the vxdmpadm, vxddladm, and vxpooladm commands. You can use the vxdmpadm command to perform the administrative tasks. Use the vxddladm command to perform the disk discovery tasks and the vxpooladm command to configure and manage the SmartPool. You can invoke these commands from a command-line prompt on a Linux or a Windows system that has the VxDMP remote CLI package installed. Web Client: The VMware vSphere's Web Client is a browser-based interface that lets you manage DMP from a graphical interface. The Web Client provides an graphical representation of the array ports, storage arrays, virtual machines, host, LUN, and local devices that are connected in the vSphere environment. The Web Client also enables you to manage the SmartPool capacity. You can access the vSphere Web Client using your vCenter credentials. vSphere Client: The vCenter plug-in lets you manage DMP in the vSphere environment, using the VMware vSphere Client as the Graphical User Interface (GUI). The GUI appears as the DMP solution's home view, and also as the VxDMP tab for the host and datacenter components of the inventory. You can access the DMP for VMware home view from the vCenter Home in the vSphere Client. For more information on administering DMP, see: Administering VxDMP using the CLI Administering VxDMP using Web Client Administering VxDMP using vSphere Client For more information on the SmartPool feature, see: About configuring storage for caching with SmartPool You can also learn more about the interfaces by taking up the course at LearnCentral- DMP 6.2 for VMware.
