NetBackup - Integration of Malware Scanner with Air Gap replication

Dear community,

I am looking for advice on integrating the Malware Scanning feature of NetBackup with the Air Gap replication. More specifically, we have a customer who wishes to replicate through Air Gap to the IRE environment only images that have been scanned by the Malware Scanner.

Did anyone perform this kind of configuration? Is it possible?

Thank you.

  • You cannot do that.
IRE depends on air, which is essentially SLP to another master server. SLPs are working only with backups.
What most customers do is replicate to an AIR gap environment and then use malware scanning on the replicated images.

After all, the AIRgap environment does not run backups so has plenty of power to run malware scanning.

  • For anyone searching for this later on - Veritas is saying such a feature has been implemented in 10.3 but I did not get a chance to test it.
