Is that any problem if we delete file "_vxfiVspCacheFile_0.VSP"

One of my server's drive space is less and the file  _vxfiVspCacheFile_0.VSP is taking more than 10 GB. Could you please let me know whether this cache file is required for any restore or backup?

Shall i delete this file if it is not required. Is there any problem if we delete this file"_vxfiVspCacheFile_0.VSP"

Please advise ....

Will not be needed for backup or restore is a cache file for the Veritas Snapshot Provider. From previous backup operations that didnt cleanup successfully.

    This TN explains it all.

DOCUMENTATION: When using Veritas Snapshot Provider to perform backups of open files, the creation of temporary files (i.e. vxfiVspCacheFile_0.tmp) for this function may still exist after the backup has completed.

  • quotes also has some useful info.

Can you advise what NetBackup versions and OS's are involved here - it may be that you could/should be using VSS as your WOFB option & not VSP. On earlier versions, if you have not specifically set anything (NetBackup Management>Host Properties>Master Servers>master_server>Client Attributes>client>Windows Open File Backup) then NetBackup uses VSP by default (VSP is no longer utilised as of 7.x)

  • Thanks for your response...

    OS 2003
