Backup exec cannot delete the old hyper avhd

We had backed up a few hyper-v vm though Backup EXEC and we found that some of the VM image were long time ago, but we cannot delete it, and it cost lot of space

  • By default, Backup Exec keeps the most recent backup sets necessary to restore any backed-up component of a server, even if the backup sets expire.

If backup sets depend on other backup sets, then Backup Exec does not delete the backup set until all expiration dates on the backup sets are reached. Even if
the backup set is displayed as expired, the data is available until all dependent backup sets also expire.

  • I wonder if stopping the BE services in the Windows Services Console and then retrying to delete images again.

Yes, I try to stop all the BE related service and still told me did not have the permission, as my account is the admin account already and also disable the lockdown service

        I encountered same problem before.

        1. Verify those backup sets don't appear in backup exec console.
        2. Disable lockdown service and stop all BE services, and then try to delete.
